What is the difference between refinishing and recoating wood floors?
Refinishing Wood Floors:
Refinishing wood floors is a comprehensive process that involves sanding down the existing finish and applying a new finish layer. It is typically done when the wood floor has significant wear, deep scratches, stains, or when the existing finish has worn off. During refinishing, the wood is sanded down to remove the damaged or worn-out layers, revealing fresh, untouched wood beneath.
Recoating, also known as screen and recoat or buff and recoat, is a more minor process that focuses on refreshing the topmost layer of the finish without fully sanding down the existing floor. It is typically performed when the floor has light scratches, minor dullness, or simply needs a fresh layer of protection. During recoating, the floor is lightly abraded or screened using a buffer machine to remove any surface imperfections and create a smooth surface.

What measures are taken to minimize dust and debris during the restoration process?
Prior to starting the restoration process, protective coverings can be placed over furniture, cabinets, and other items in the room to shield them from dust and debris. This helps to minimize the need for extensive cleaning afterward.
Floor sanding machines equipped with dust collection systems can significantly minimize the amount of dust generated during the sanding process. These systems effectively capture the majority of dust at its source, reducing airborne particles.
